Moving

To my dear readers and followers:

I am moving over to Baptist Reporter and my Google+ page. I think I must do something different than WordPress. I cannot support the ads nor the rainbow flag that they displayed a couple of weeks ago. As I stated in last week’s post, the Bible does not support the gay agenda. I thank you for all the encouragement I have received, from likes to reads. I hope ya’ll have been blessed and that the posts have done their job in glorifying God, bringing the Gospel to others, and edifying the church.

I will be leaving this blog up, but will not be putting new posts on. From now on, posts will be on Baptist Reporter and Google+.

Thank you, dear readers.

Sincerely,

The Fundamental Baptist Reporter.

Male and ?

Tomorrow my parents will be celebrating their wedding anniversary. I want to express my thankfulness for my parents. God uses marriage between a man and his wife to illustrate the relationship between Jesus and the Church (Ephesians 5).

As many of my readers may know, the gay agenda has swept across our nation. They call those who do not agree with their thinking “bigots” and “bullies”. But what does the Bible say?

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” (Genesis 2:24).

The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder” (Matthew 19:3-6).

“But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder” (Mark 10:6-9).

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh” (Ephesians 5:31).

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. ¶ And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them” (Romans 1:18-32).

So, my dear readers, we can see that it is not “male and male” or “female and female” but “God made them male and female.”

The Importance of Israel

Some people believe that the Church has replaced Israel; that God has fulfilled the promises made to Israel and therefore, they are not necessary. But sadly, though many people who hold this opinion call themselves Christians, they do not understand what the Bible says. Let us take a look at what the Bible says, and let us see why the church has not replaced Israel.

First, let us look at what Romans 11:1-4. Paul says

“I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying, Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image to Baal.”

If the Church has replaced Israel, then that passage is a fraud. If the church is the new Israel, then God has cast away His people which He foreknew.

1st Corinthians 10:32 says: “Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the Church of God”.

If the church has replaced Israel, then why are they mentioned separately? Clearly, God has not thrown Israel away.

In the Bible, God is called the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob several times. Here are some examples:

Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob” (Luke 20:37).

“That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee” (Exodus 4:5).

These are just two of all the times that God is called the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Three times God is called the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel. In Malachi 3:6, God says: “For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”

If God was the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob then, and if God loved Israel then, He still is God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and He still loves Israel. Continue reading

July 4th

Today is July 4th. While many of my readers may be celebrating Independence Day, I want to explain why I am not.

BUT: I am NOT a traitor. I thank God that I live where I do. I appreciate the freedoms that we do have here.

However, I am not celebrating this day because of what the Bible says.

The Bible says that we are to worship God alone. We are to honour those in authority (Romans 13), but we are not to worship the country. We are not to swear (James 5:12); and our allegiance must go to God ONLY.

Now this does not mean that we should blatantly disobey the laws of the land. We are to obey the laws, as long as they do not come into conflict with what God says (Acts 5:29).

Patriotism means “Love of and devotion to one’s country”. We are told to “love not the world” (1 John 2:16-17).

We cannot serve two masters; the Bible makes that clear. “Serving God and Country” cannot work. We must decide where we will put our allegiance; and according to the Bible, it is to GOD that we give our allegiance.

Also consider that, while the founding fathers had some good morals, they were not Christians (contrary to what David Barton says). George Washington died a Catholic; John Adams was a Unitarian; Jefferson exalted reason above the Bible; Ben Franklin was a Freemason and a member of the Hellfire Club (a debaucherous club in England). Many thought that Jesus was a good man, but not necessarily God.

“Original sin was as ridiculous as imputed righteousness.” –Benjamin Franklin

“And the day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being of his father in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter. But we may hope that the dawn of reason and freedom of thought in these United States of America will do away with all this artificial scaffolding and restore to us the primitive and genuine doctrines…” –Thomas Jefferson, in a letter to John Adams, April 11th, 1823

“Among the sayings and discourses imputed to him by his biographers, I find many passages of fine imagination, correct morality, and of most lovely benevolence; and others again of so much ignorance, so much absurdity, so much untruth, charlatism, and imposture as to pronounce it impossible that such contradictions should have proceeded from the same being. I separate therefore the gold from the dross; restore to him the former, and leave the latter to the stupidity of some, and roguery of his disciples. Of this band of dupes and imposters, Paul was the great Coryphaeus, and fist corrupter of the doctrines of Jesus. These palpable interpolations and falsifications of his doctrines led me to try to sift them apart.” –Thomas Jefferson in a letter to William Short, Monticello, April 13th, 1820

“It was a long tradition among both the Maryland Province Jesuit Fathers and the Negro slaves of the Washington plantation and those of the surrounding area that the first President died a Catholic. These and other facts about George Washington are reported in the Paulist Information Magazine by Doran Hurely. The story is that Father Leonard Neale, S.J. [a Jesuit], was called to Mount Vernon from St. Mary’s Mission across the Piscataway River four hours before Washington’s death. Washington’s body servant Juba is the authority for the fact the General made the Sign of the Cross at meals. He may have learned this from his Catholic lieutenants, Stephen Moylan or John Fitzgerald. At Valley Forge, Washington forbade the burning in effigy of the Pontiff on Popes’ Day. Several times as President he is reported to have slipped into a Catholic church to hear Sunday mass.” –The Denver Register, February 24th, 1957

“The long report among slaves of Mount Vernon as to Washington’s deathbed conversion would be odd unless based on truth. These were not Catholic Negroes; it is part of the tradition that weeping and wailing occurred in the quarters that Massa Washington had been snared by the Scarlet Woman of Rome, whom they had been taught to fear and hate. Supposedly Father Neale was rowed across the Piscataway by Negro oarsmen; and men often talked freely when slaves were nearby, confidentially ignoring their presence.” –The Denver Register, May 11th, 1952

“…Washington died a Catholic. The facts concerning this have been well publicized and would seem to leave little room for doubt. Four hours before Washington’s death, Fr. Leonard Neale, S.J., was called to Mount Vernon from St. Mary’s Mission across the Piscataway River where he baptized President Washington.” –The Angelus, February 1998, Volume X, Number 2, “Catholics and the Republic”

I do not hate the founding fathers; I do not hate America. I just do not, and cannot, be patriotic, as it is unbiblical. When the decision between God and country comes, we as Christians must choose God.

The Christians in early Rome had to choose between Rome and God, and they chose God. We must also make the choice to serve God. We must obey the laws of the land, as long as they do not conflict with God’s laws. But we must not worship nor pledge our allegiance to the nation.

Polycarp–Destroyer of Gods

A young slave girl, Anna, is rescued and adopted by Christians in the 2nd century Smyrna and befriended by their aged bishop, Polycarp. As Anna is taught by Polycarp and her new family, she struggles to reconcile her beliefs with those of the Christians. When the Roman proconsul demands that all citizens worship Caesar to show their allegiance to Rome, Polycarp and the Christians must find courage to stand for their faith against the growing threat of persecution. Anna is forced to come to grips with the truth and choose whom she is willing to live – and die – for.

Jesus Is Coming Again

Many people may wonder if Jesus is coming. The answer is a very simple “Yes”. 1st Peter 3:9 says “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” So we know that Jesus is coming again. And the Apostle Paul said “For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry” in Hebrews 10:37. So the question is not “Will Jesus come?” but “When will Jesus come?” I will answer that question here, looking only at the Bible.

The Bible is about 30% prophecy. Much of that has already been fulfilled, as it dealt with Jesus’ first coming. And as this prophecy was fulfilled literally, then we can conclude that the prophecies that have not been fulfilled will be fulfilled literally.

In Matthew 24 and Mark 13, the Bible records what has been called “The Olivet Discourse”. In these passages, Jesus describes what will happen in the Last Days. Let us take a look at what these passages say.

In Matthew 24:1-2 and Mark 13:1-2, Jesus’ disciples show him the buildings of the temple. Jesus then, in a rather calm way, foretells the destruction of the temple, which was fulfilled in 70 A.D., when the Roman army under Titus destroyed Jerusalem and scattered the Jews. After this ominous prophecy, the disciples (namely Peter, James, John, and Andrew—Mark 13:3) ask Jesus “Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?” (Mark 13:4). Matthew 24:3 gives us three questions: 1) When shall these things be? 2) What shall be the sign of thy coming? and 3) What shall be the sign of the end of the world? Jesus proceeded to answer these questions, and His answer is recorded in detail in Matthew 24 and Mark 13.

In Mark 13:5-8 and Matthew 24:4-8, Jesus foretells of “wars and rumors of wars” and “famines and pestilences” and “earthquakes in divers places”. However, Jesus said that these are only “the beginning of sorrow.” And for your information, divers in this passage means diverse. Divers is an older spelling of the modern word diverse.

Jesus then warns the disciples that they are going to be persecuted: Mark 13:9 says “But take heed to yourselves”. Matthew 24:9 says “Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.” Undoubtedly, this was fulfilled, as the Martyr’s Mirror and Acts testify. This part has been fulfilled.

Jesus then mentions the “abomination of desolation”, which was prophesied by Daniel in Daniel 9:27: “And he [the Antichrist] shall confirm the covenant with many for one week [seven years]: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.” The pattern is as follows: the Rapture; the Antichrist confirms a treaty with Israel and the Middle East (which allows the Jews to build a temple and begin the sacrifices again); half-way through the seven years Antichrist will enter the temple, declare himself to be God, demand worship, and rule the world for three-and-one-half years, or forty-and-two months, or twelve hundred and threescore (1260) days. This was the opinion of the Apostles, the early church, and Jesus himself.

Some people may contend that the word Rapture is not in the Bible, but neither is the word Trinity. This word is not in the Bible, but we know that the three Persons of the Godhead exsist. So the argument that the word Rapture is not in the Bible is an invalid argument, as the event is prophesied in the Bible, although the word “Rapture” is not.

Some people may question whether this is the right view of Eschatology. The word eschatology means “The branch of theology that deals with Christ’s Second Coming, Antichrist, etc.” The answer to this question can be answered very simply, and I will answer that right here. Continue reading

?When is He Coming?

“Martha, please set the table,” Mother Miller instructed. “Mary, will you please help her?”

The Yoders were coming for a noon meal, and they were destined to arrive at anytime. The Millers were working to finish the meal preparations before their guests arrived.

Near noon, the Yoders arrived at the Miller’s house. Final preparations were finished, and the families sat down to eat.

“You know,” Mark Yoder began after several minutes of silence. “I’ve been thinking…” Continue reading
