When dawn arises in the sky, one is awaken to a sense of beauty. The purple and pink blend well with the blue, and together a wonderful piece of art is created every morning.
Just as dawn is the beginning of a new day, so our lives here on earth are a dawning of an eternal day. Dawn only lasts a few hours before the sun’s rays erase the picture. So our lives are “but a vapor” in the beginning of the eternal day that never has a sunset. Our souls will always live on, just as the light of day is always present. As the Psalmist declared, “So teach us to number our days.”
Just as we do not know exactly when the dawn will disappear, we do not know when our lives will end. So we should be ready for when the end comes so that we will be able to spend eternity in an eternal day rather than an eternal night.
